Oh how many problems with relationships in the church would be erased were we to really praise the character of our God. How the anemia of our evangelistic effort would be obliterated if we were to know what it is to praise our God.
God did what He did to magnify to us and in us the awesome and amazing brilliance of His own character. So then the plan of salvation is meant for the purpose of displaying the magnificence of His Person.
I exist to passionately pursue the glory of God as a catalyst for the spread of His grace far and wide so that people may give praise and thanksgiving to Him so that He may be supremely glorified.
Grace destroys pharisaical Christianity. Let’s face it, we are all tempted to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. That’s a very real danger for all of us. We have the tendency, because of all that we have been given, to think that we are really something.
Recently I saw something that wasn’t intended for me though it’s words were aimed right at me. Now I’ve thought of myself as rather “tough-skinned” but I must admit that those words were pretty cutting. And I have to say that they’ve continued to pound in my mind and on my heart. As I was thinking about this, I remembered God’s instruction from Ephesians 4:29. I realized how what I had seen had not given grace to me at all…maybe an ulcer, but certainly not grace!
